This was such a heartening outcome. I pray he surrounds himself with expert counsel and is able to navigate the Chicago Machine. There’s so much to be done, with public schools and in a dozen other sectors —-his work is cut out. We must support him in every way we can.

Exactly, Elaine! Democracy is the work of everyone--and we are so unused to it in Chicago. We have often had to accept what is chosen for and dropped upon us. But I share your hope that Johnson picks the best advisors and that the rest of us do the ongoing work of supporting our leaders as we as holding them to account, and serving in our own neighborhoods in any capacity we can to bolster our communities up.
